Pizza Lover AND Vegan? Yes, It’s Very Possible. Here’s A Few Great Recipes

You all know how much we love to prove vegan misconceptions wrong. If you don’t find the same joy in showing the world how versatile a vegan diet can be, stop reading. Just kidding. But actually. There is nothing more satisfying to use then beating the odds and finding new ways to eat better than a non-vegan.

This is why I love to explore the typical non-vegan meals and twist them into a healthier, yummier version of themselves. And what’s the first thing that comes to mind when many of us think of a typical non-vegan meal? You guessed it! All hail the mighty pizza!

Whether it’s late after a night out, or the game of the week is about to start, pizza never lets you down. This complete and utter joy does not have to be over when one becomes vegan. In my opinion, these vegan options taste WAY better than the local pizza joint down the road. And to top it all off, they are full of protein and nutrients that your body will love you for.

With pizza, the possibilities are endless. Make sure to purchase a whole-wheat crust, hearty tomato sauce and vegan shredded cheese and you’ve got the base for any amazing pizza. You can really add any of your favorite options to that base. If you like broccoli, chop it into small digestible pieces and throw some on top. Dying for chickpeas? They bake so nicely and would be perfect for any pizza topping.
If you are currently lacking in the creative department, here are some brilliant ideas that even I probably wouldn’t have thought of on my own

Not a vegan cheese fan? Try this roasted tomato pesto pizza.

This recipe gives you the how-to on how to make your own pesto, which is super helpful. If not, pick some up next time you’re at the store. The aroma of the pesto and roasted tomatoes are enough to knock your socks off.

If you’re tired of the cold weather like we are, try this Hawaiian BBQ pizza.

It’s sure to take you away to the islands! Figuratively, that is. Full of chopped pineapple, red onion and BBQ sauce, this pizza is unlike anything you’re vegan heart could have ever imagined.

Eggplant is one of the most nutritious vegetables out there. So why not add it to pizza? If you like some spice, add some hot peppers to the mix, along with your favorite hummus and vegan cheese. This recipe even gives you the option to make your own gluten free crust!

If none of these options tickle your fancy, there are a million more out there.

Happy exploring!
